# Hideouts

![Tier 1 — Forest Hollow](/files/DbLFuSYh7em7abs5Kp55)

Your hideout is your base of operations. It determines how many Merry Men you can deploy and how much total upkeep you can sustain. It is your ceiling — and upgrading it is the primary driver of growth in HOODLOOT.

***

## Key Attributes

Each hideout tier has three stats that define what you can do inside it:

| Attribute          | Description                                                                   |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **$SHARE Cost** | The $SHARE required to upgrade. 75% of this is given to the poor permanently. |
| **Slots** | The maximum number of Merry Men you can place simultaneously. |
| **Upkeep Cap (U)** | The maximum total upkeep of all placed outlaws combined. |

{% hint style="danger" %}
**The total upkeep of all outlaws in your hideout cannot exceed the upkeep cap.** If you want to deploy more powerful Merry Men, upgrade your hideout first — or remove lower-efficiency outlaws to free up upkeep.
{% endhint %}

## 🪙 ETH Tolls

Every other hideout tier requires an ETH payment alongside the $SHARE cost. These are **one-time milestone payments** — not recurring fees — valued in USD via the Chainlink ETH/USD oracle.

| Tier | Hideout              | ETH Required |
| :--: | -------------------- | :----------: |
|  T1  | Forest Hollow        |   \~$30 USD  |
|  T3  | Greenwood Camp       |   \~$50 USD  |
|  T5  | Sherwood Stronghold  |   \~$70 USD  |
|  T7  | Nottingham Safehouse |  \~$100 USD  |
|  T9  | Sherwood Throne      |  \~$150 USD  |

ETH tolls go directly to the HOODLOOT War Chest treasury — the protocol's hard gatekeeping mechanism ensuring progression milestones carry real weight.

## ⏱️ Upgrade Cooldown

{% hint style="warning" %}
There is a **24-hour cooldown** (864,000 blocks) between each hideout upgrade. You cannot rush through multiple tiers in a single session. Plan your upgrades accordingly.
{% endhint %}

## Tier Descriptions

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="T1 — Forest Hollow" %}
**FREE · \~$30 USD ETH · 4 slots · 28 U**

A hollow under the roots. Damp, dark, free. Barely enough upkeep for your starter outlaw. Everyone begins here.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="T2 — Hollow Oak" %}
**55 $SHARE · 8 slots · 168 U**

A great hollow oak with room for a proper band. Your first $SHARE-only upgrade. Eight slots. Room to breathe.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="T3 — Greenwood Camp" %}
**138 $SHARE · \~$50 USD ETH · 12 slots · 420 U**

Cookfires and canvas. The first ETH toll on the road. Twelve slots and 420 U — enough to start running serious outlaws.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="T4 — Riverside Den" %}
**247 $SHARE · 16 slots · 1,120 U**

Hidden by the river bend. Sixteen slots. The upkeep cap jumps to 1,120 U — mid-tier outlaws are now fully viable.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="T5 — Sherwood Stronghold" %}
**300 $SHARE · \~$70 USD ETH · 20 slots · 7,000 U**

Palisades and watchmen. A second ETH toll. Twenty slots and 7,000 U. **The game opens up here.**
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="T6 — Outlaw Warren" %}
**358 $SHARE · 20 slots · 13,125 U**

A warren of tunnels beneath the forest. No ETH — pure $SHARE. Same slot count as T5 but nearly double the upkeep. An upkeep upgrade, not an expansion.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="T7 — Nottingham Safehouse" %}
**383 $SHARE · \~$100 USD ETH · 24 slots · 20,000 U**

Hidden in the enemy town itself. Third ETH toll. Twenty-four slots, 20,000 U. **The elite tier for serious outlaws.**
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="T8 — The Undercroft 🔒" %}
**🔒 Coming soon**

Vaults beneath Nottingham Castle — the band tunnels into the enemy's own treasury, torch-light glinting off mountains of redistributed gold. The biggest upkeep leap in the legend. *Stats revealed at release.*
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="T9 — Sherwood Throne 🔒" %}
**🔒 Coming soon**

The greenwood crowned — a throne hall of living, gold-barked trees where forest and treasure become one. The pinnacle every outlaw climbs toward. *Stats revealed at release.*
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## 📐 Strategy Notes

{% hint style="info" %}
**T5 → T6:** Slot count stays at 20, but upkeep nearly doubles (7,000 U → 13,125 U). This is an upkeep efficiency upgrade — if you have 20 slots filled with mid-tier outlaws, T6 lets you swap to far more powerful Merry Men without waiting for T7.

**T7 — Nottingham Safehouse** is the current live ceiling: 24 slots and 20,000 U. **The Undercroft (T8)** and the **Sherwood Throne (T9)** are coming soon — end-game Loot Rate stacks arrive with them.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Which outlaws fit where.** Your Hideout's upkeep cap is the real constraint — slots run out slower than upkeep does. Match your Hideout tier to the [Merry Men](/game-assets-and-token/outlaws.md) you intend to run: a Forest Hollow (28 U) can just about hold four early outlaws; a Nottingham Safehouse (20,000 U) fields a serious elven band across its 24 slots. Upgrade the ceiling, then fill it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.hoodloot.com/game-assets-and-token/hideouts.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
